Photos That Lie

The pictures that stood out to me where the Osama bin Laden dead picture and the Lib Dems stage "fake pc" photos. They stood out because in the Osama picture tried to make the news a lie when it said that they believe he is to be dead in a bombing where the body is partially identified, and the Lib Dems fake photo stood out on stinkyjournalism because made me wonder if all actors are just in the camera with no emotion to get all photoshoped. I don't think to make people look perfect is great for the society of magizines and actors because if you ever meet them later on you could tell that they were remade photos. I believe the editors are more artful because in the job of taking photos for a magizine they have the most work of photoshoping it all in every little detail possible. Yes I was surprised that fake photos were in the past because I didn't think they had the technology back then to mess around with photos unless they were painted but of course paintings are always going to be different looking then the actual thing. I think if I was a photojournalist I would not temper with the photos because people want to see the truth in news reporting not the quality of how it looks.

Talking with Terry

I think that some of the advantages that Terry Seguin uses in two way communication is to see if his audience likes what his interveiw or newcasts and if the audience changes then Terry would find out also. I think journalism would be taught best with hands on training because each interview is different and every person is different, so hands on training would be the best to know how people would respond to certain question to learn the possibilities of answers. I think the time frame on tv and radio interviews would affect the public because if they werer interested in the interviews they would probably chose radio for the longer time frame. There is way to much unimportant news in our society today and I agree with Terry that there should be news based on things that affect our lives.

Caught in Lies

I thought that some of the news that I had read would be not truthfull but full to it's meaning because whenever your reading it's just something you can not believe that happent. The reaction I had when I read these articles was surprised on how the guy had made up stories on a real person but on the other story isn't as bad because it made up a person. I believe they would have to skill to be a good journalist instead of making up stories to make them look good they should find a good story and make it fabricated a little bit. I think that the universitys and colleges should do a better job at teaching them what could go wrong with jourlism in interviews and stuff like that.I don't have a opinion on the abudsment because they can be helpful to explain to the readers complaints out fully and try to make them understand and can be bad to raise the complaints because people who have them have someone to rage at

Taking the Photo

The Rule of Thirds
Arsenal's German Defender Per Mertesacker Controls

This picture is a good example about the rule of thirds where the soccer player is around the 3rd line of the grid and centered.

Fill the Frame
Arsenal's Park Ju-Young (L) Trains
This picture show fill the frame type of photo to show the practice techniques as a soccer team.

Framing/Composition
  Alex Cejka Of Germany Plays
This picture is a good framing/composition type of photo because it shows the golfer in a course that looks like it either really hard to show he's profesional or the course is unfinished.

Framing and Point of Veiw
Rory McIlroy Of Northern Ireland And Caddie J.P Fitzgerald Walk Bewtween Volcanic Rocks
This shows a good point of veiw when taking a photo for when you are far away and showing off the landscape.

When Interviews Go Wrong

Barbara Frum had kept her interviewing style during this interveiw with Sandra Good by keep asking her Questions that has something to do with what Sandra just did and later on got the right information about it. The outcome of what would happen if Barbara Frum had been more confrontational it could possibly that Sandra would hang up the phone or actually give information if she might of been more straight to the point but nobody can predict how someone's reactions would have went if something went different. I think that Barbara's effecting question was if Charles death was justified and Sanadra answer was yes. It was effective because it proves Sandra dosen't mind killing people to get to the point of making everyone believe her way of saving the world or at least making it a santcuary but in my opinion how could it be a place of good if you had to kill people who dissagreed with you because your becoming evil or making evil descision to get there. Some good question to have for preparing for an interveiw are different ways of asking the same question incase the interviewee went off topic and you had to bring up something that had to do with the person beliefs in order to get them to give the information your looking for. I learnt from Frum's interview that you cannot judge if the questions are going to go your way so you just have the get the know the person a bit more and keep on talking until you get to the point where your question would not bother the interviewee anymore. I would like to interview Oli Herbert who is the lead guitarist for the Metal band All That Remains and I would ask how he got to this band or was he here since the beginning. I would also get to see how they came up with the name for this band. I dont think that Oli would be a hard interview because most metal band guys are approachable and easy to talk to.

Hard News VS Soft News

I think that "Analysis: Shalit's realease is good news for Israel, but even better news for Hamas" is hard news and soft news as well because of the sentence "While the agreement to release 1,027 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the freedom of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit is good news for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu" seems like its going to appeal more to polictics and war-like acts so its considered hard news. Also it's has been giving out information on "Not only does Hamas get credit for winning the freedom of about one-sixth of the Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons" which is furthuring Hamas and making him a human interest in the world.

I also think that "U.S. thwarts alleged Iranian government plot to assassinate Saudi envoy, bomb embassies" is hard news because it appeals more to the wars still going on here and there around the world. Also by this sentence "The Obama administration accused elements of Tehran’s Islamic regime of backing a terrorist plot to kill Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Washington"

I think that New Zealand crews pump oil from grounded ship would be considered as soft news because it appeals mostly to the human interest because of the fact that nobody died and they pumped oil from a ship stuck in the ice.

I think the politics of shipbuilding means rough seas for Harper is considered as soft news because of the line Later this week, the government is expected to announce two winning bidders for most of the work.which is more to the human interest of the government.

Irael's list for prisoners swap release would be considered soft news because of the opening line of Israel has published the names of 477 Palestinian prisoners who will be released in exchange for the captured Israeli soldier, which is more of straight to the point news.

What is Newsworthy

Blast in Chinese Coal Mine Kills 17   11/20
Timing 4/4
The timing was good I marked it 4/4 because it was posted at 1am October 5th and the accident happent on yesterday and it does not give a excact time.

Significance 2/4
I gave this a low mark because only 17 people died out of 39 people affected which is not gonna affect most of China.
Proximity 1/4
I marked this soo low because of the fact that the Chinese coal mine would not really affect any of us Canadiens unless they are close friends of distant family that worked in the mines.

Prominence 2/4
I gave this a 2 because of a fact that that unless a famous person worked there because China is known for its unsafe mine working conditions which they are trying to improve.

Human Interest 2/4
I gave this a 2 because of the fact that the article gives that there is an annual of 7000 fatatlities which is only a third of what it used to be, so if this happent more often then less people would care about accidents that happent.

Mogadishu Bomb Blast Kills at Least 70 People  20/20
Timing 4/4
The timing was good because the bombing happent yesterday and the time of the article posten was yesterday October 4th.

Significance 4/4
I gave this a good mark because it killed 70 people and 43 are wounded in this bombing. Alot of Somalia is affected by random suacide bombing annually.

Proximity 4/4
Since the article says Al-Queda took responsibility for the bombing it would affects most parts of the world because of the damage they have done over the years such as bombing embassays and other bombings or extreme violence.

Promince 4/4
Once again Al-Queda is famous for their bombings and almost every country knows the terrorist group of Al-Queda.

Human Interest 4/4
The human interest would be great in this article because of 9/11 by terrorist and other terrorist attacks arround the world which would get more people interested in what they will do next.

Taliban suspects tortured, UN report says: Beatings, electric shocks used in Afgan-run detention centures
Timing 3/4 I gave this a 3 because it does not say the date that these incidents happens but gave informations of times this was suspected before

Significance 2/4 this article does not affect very many people except for the talibans tortured and the reputation of the Afgan police and their ways of getting informations.

Proximity 1/4 I gave this a low mark because its not really near us and does not have anything to do with Canada except for the act the the UN took.

Promince 4/4 I gave this a 4 because taliban terrorist are always popular in the news because they usually have comitted crime of bombings in public areas.

Human Interest 3/4 I gave this a high mark because alot of people read the things in news on terrorist to find what happened and yet some people do not really care what other people do in the world.

Thousands Mourn Slain Cario Protestors
Timing 4/4 this tragedy has happened on monday october 10th, and this article was posted at 9am this morning.

Significance 4/4  this story affects many people by injuring over 200 people but 2 armored trucks that just plowed through the crowd of Christians

Proximity 2/4 I Gave this a 2 because it didn't happen that close to us but still imagine if a group of protestors got rammed by trucks.

Prominence 4/4 i gave this a 4 because there is Christians all around the world that would be affected by this.

Human Interest 4/4 i gave this a 4 because theres gonna be 2 types of reactions from this story that people would have which would be sad because that a group of Christians were injured and humorous because alot of people think about what would it look like if a truck hit those people.\

Writting the Newspaper

     Mob Break out in Weaver

The mob in Weaver have been tearing up the parts of Weaver until the riot police arrived this morning. 12 people were killed, 60 injured, and 160 arrested, 4 cops found dead and 16 cops were injured in this incident

One of the mob members said that they joined in this mob because the logging company of Weaver was giving too low of wages for their hard work. The wages amount was not mentioned in this interview, but the company was burnt down by the mob's homemade Molotovs.

This mob started a week ago as a protesting group until the company decided that they were going to fire them all 2 nights ago, which then gave the protest another reason to form a mob and destroy that company.

Police said that serveral teenagers were also killed because they joined in on this mob who were named Braden Bell, Brody Fitzsimons, Dustin Bobafett were the few that died. Braden passed out by the tear gas and was stomped to death by the rampaging mob. Brody died by sitting at the back of the mob and overdosed on cocaine. Dustin died by the mob randomly beating him to death because he was eating all their food that had from protesting all day and night.

First Newspapers

Some of the differences from the first newspapers created and the newspapers we have today are, the first newspaper has only one story to read compared to ours which has plenty stories to read and different categories to select them from. Another difference is in the ink we have machined newspapers from the computer now and use factories to press on paper in clear black ink. The first newspaper created was done in a ink that you can barely read cause of the darkness of the paper.

Back when the first newspaper was created the government stepped in and shut down all prints of this newspaper. I don't think the government should have that much power today because they would almost be running our country in a dictatorship because, if the government just does not want to have more then 1 newspaper in a province/state, they could just shut down the rest. Personally i think this power should exist but never in 1 person decision to use this power, by having a group of guys agree on shutting this business down.

I believe that the comparison of the first newspapers being compared to a news blog because, it's probably related by how a news blog runs mostly on one story which is the same as these first newspapers. I found this comparison surprising because I never thought about a newspaper ever looking the same as a blog.

Newspapers are still being created today and some are wondering how come it has not run out of business yet. I believe that the newspaper are still used today because, when we look online in a small town and try to find news about anything, you could probably find some events that are gonna happen or has already occurred but in newspapers, you would be able to fine things such as local issues or cultural events.

I am surprised at the fact that the first newspaper in Canada is in Halifax because I never really thought it would be on this side of Canada. Most things you heard in history being created in Canada always came from Ontario or Quebec or any of the big provinces compared to this little capital.
